Why I am running

As a candidate for the Portsmouth School Committee, I would like to introduce myself to the citizens of Portsmouth.  I have been a resident of Portsmouth for fourteen years and a close follower of School Committee issues.  As the father of two grown daughters and a former government worker who moved frequently, I have experienced firsthand the quality of several different school systems and would hope to bring what I believe to be the highest level of quality education to the students of Portsmouth.  Today’s students will be placed in global competition for employment in the future, and it is essential that they leave school fully prepared to go on to higher education, or pursue technical skills that will lead to career choices they might wish to pursue.

I first became involved in politics in 2003 working with my neighbors to fight the placement of a dredge facility at the Mount Hope Maritime Terminal.  I am a member of the PRTC, PCC, and RISC.

I am a volunteer poll worker. Some of my volunteer activities include; Emmanuel Church, community breakfast, soup kitchen, and Crop Walk.

I reside with my wife in the Pheasant Hill section of Portsmouth, and look forward to the campaign where I can meet as many of the residents of Portsmouth as possible.
